The Lichfield Bower, this year on Monday 4th June, is an age old tradition that brings the city of Lichfield to life and provides all-day entertainment and a great day out for everyone. It manages to draw the crowds from far and wide for its party atmosphere and spectacular array of things to do and see, from the funfair to the many events in Beacon Park – the heart of the Bower.
After the Court of Arraye, the Lichfield Mercury Bower Queen is crowned at 12 noon, outside the Guildhall by the Mayor of Lichfield. This is then followed by a traditional street carnival which originates from the 12th century, and consists of floats and lots more, led by the Green Mans Morris and Sword Club.
This year’s Main Arena in Beacon Park boasts a fantastic line up including a show by Stampede Jousting, Cyril the Squirrel Terrier Racing Team, MadDog Wrestling Company, G Force Trampoline Club and Tropical Inc Roadshow.
The Festival Circus will also be on Bunkers Hill for Monday and Tuesday; entry £2 – the first circus to ever perform at Buckingham Palace!
Quad bikes, water spheres, a myriad of different and interesting stalls and the Pat Collins Fair, all in Beacon Park, completes the line-up for what promises to be an excellent, fun Lichfield day out.
It is £3 entry or you can still buy an Early Bird Wristband at just £1. For a full list of where to buy the Wristbands, see our prices page or call Beth on 07528 477396.
Why not bring a picnic and come along, celebrate the Queens Jubilee and support Lichfield’s oldest tradition!
