The Chairmans Message

Lichfield is the home of many customs and ceremonies the Bower being one of them whose origin is lost in antiquity. For over one hundred years the Mayor has crowned the Bower Queen outside of the Guildhall at 12 noon. The oldest tradition in the procession is the Morris men who this year the Green Mans Morris and Sword Club celebrate 60 years and will be joined by other clubs to lead the procession. The main Band this year will be Air Cadet Organisation Marching Band. I hope you have taken advantage of our EARLY BIRD WRISTBANDS for a £1 until May 19th, and remember CHILDREN UNDER 5 FREE once again. Pat Collins Fair will also be in attendance in the park and in the city. Lastly I would like to thank my loyal committee members for organising the oldest event in Lichfield and who give their spare time freely. Also thank you to the many trade people and organisations who support us each year. Success to the Bower and long may it continue. Michael Mullarkey, Chairman of the Bower Committee
